Does SMC golden zone (Fibonacci) make money? We tested it on 42 markets over 2.7 years, fees included. Here is the answer.
First, the rule. The rule: After a CHoCH and a BOS, buy the pullback into the 50-61.8% Fibonacci zone. Stop just below, target the 1.272 extension.
A version is the same rule with other settings: stops, holding times, timeframes. Now all 432 versions together. 99% of them lost money after fees.
Here is the best of all 432 versions. 1053 trades, 22% winners. Each square is one trade: green won, red lost.
R is what you risk on one trade: minus 1 R means you lost your stake once. First half of the data: minus 0.05 R per trade. Second half: plus 0.04.
But is that skill, or luck? Now compare it with simply holding the market over the same days: minus 0.01 R per trade. Its profit was the market, not the rule. Then we ran that exact version on older data it had never seen, 2020 to 2022. Against the market: minus 0.01 R per trade. The edge did not survive.
The answer. No reliable edge.
